It didn’t take Mark long to get showered and changed into a tux. He found himself unsurprised that the massive closet had a tux that felt as if it had been tailored for him. If there was anything he had learned of recent, it was to accept things as they came to him. He sprawled back on the canopied bed and called into the bathroom for Kathy.
“Almost ready now?”
“Putting my earrings in,” she called back.
Mark couldn’t help but chuckle. It was like they were getting ready to go to their friend’s wedding, like they were in a suite of their own choosing and purchasing, and not one that they had been thrust into after being kidnapped. They were becoming experts at making the best of a situation.
When she finally came out of the bathroom, Kathy looked ravishing. She was wearing a strapless emerald green ball gown, and she had her hair pinned to an elegant chignon. She was sans makeup; it was the one thing that had not been waiting for them in the suite, but she looked stunning nonetheless. Her earrings were understated chandeliers, nothing too fancy, but they worked perfectly. Mark gave her a slow clap.
“Oh stop,” she said. “Let’s go see the newest rich man who is going to boss us around.”
“Does seem to be a theme doesn’t it?” Mark laughed and knocked lightly on the door of their room. There was a shuffling of feet and then it was pulled open by one of their guards.
“Right this way,” he said.

Reginald Astair had spent his time in his equally grand suite, yet in a much less pleasant state. He sat slumped up against the door, listening for the guards to give up something important, since he had little else to do. He knew he was supposed to shower and change, and he couldn’t deny what he smelled like after a few days in the tunnel, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. This was what happened to grail seekers. The grail didn’t want to be found. No matter how hard he tried, there was always someone else there to stop him. He was having a crisis. He had dedicated his life to finding the grail, and it had done nothing but mocking him and biting him in the ass. He was allowing himself a moment to wallow in self-pity over his utter defeat. But still…in the back of his mind it was there. There was the image of the grail in his hands, drinking from the cup, the gritty water going down smooth. He could not deny that either. It was as real as anything to him and it was not an image he could shake. Through his constants defeats, it was what kept him going, and as he sat slumped against the door of his suite it came to him again. He stood up and walked to the bathroom. He needed to look presentable.

Kathy and Mark found themselves in a grand hall, being led over a red carpet towards a man sitting in what could only be described as a throne.
